I was unable to load the college fair recuitment review link... rather, it loads briefly but is then promptly redirected to a "Google Custom Search" feature? Not sure what I could possibly be doing wrong here, but here is my successful re-take:

The students at the Ohlone College Fair were eager to talk about college life and perspectives. It was interesting to note that there is an entire occupation revolving around college fair recruitment; I may have been the only Alumni in the entire room =D

The students certainly appreciated a genuine reflection of my crazy college antics, as I kept reminding the students whose first question was "what is the average GPA" to pursue more worldly, well-rounded benchmarks. Parents shook their heads in agreement over quips of un-remembered averages, and the financial aid books were actually the FIRST item on my table to disappear (besides all three copies of the A&S guide... I ended up giving away the Engineering "TABLE COPIES" to students that could answer science-related questions, seeing as everything will need reprinting -- what packet do the students receive for filling out the yellow card? I just kept saying "more information").

Left are one Blair and one Peabody manual, which I had artificially limited on the table (wasn't enough space for everything!)... but the double-tablecloth was striking, and I was happy to represent a fair image of a school that *gasp* I became affiliated with almost eight years ago! It made me laugh explaining to a largely unfamiliar crowd the importance of EFCs and FAFSAs and the more brilliant things Vanderbilt has to offer, such as Alternative Spring Break; frisbee on Alumni lawn; and the lasting friendships shared from weeklong cramming sessions. Oh... college.

I had a great time, and will send back the collected cards. There were more parents circulating (without kids) than students, so lots of cards will probably end up mailed in... but the turn out was great, and I would definitely recommend sending *MORE* pamphlets to the bay area... the meetup in Orinda was fantastic, and I really enjoyed reflecting with students on their goals and fit in college. Are you in need of East Bay Area interviewers? I am free for one night each week, pretty much scheduled any time.

PS Stephanie E. (seXXXXX@XXXX.k12.ca.us) was interested in holding a college fair at her school. Also, a lady from Logan High School (Union City, CA 4000+ students) requested you send her posters to encourage students to pursue schools outside of California. Much like my Texas upbringing, I was unaware how large even our own small country is... I'd say 80% of people's first question was either "where is Vandy" or "what is your school known for" (what are we known for? aside from quips to dads about being the punching-bag of the SEC? NIH-grants in science? Highly regarded grad school programs (with internal combined programs)? Rising engineering department? etc. etc. etc.). The stand-up picture of our beautiful arboretum is going to be difficult to send back... BUT IT CERTAINLY LIT UP THE TABLE, and student who'd already visited recounted to their peers the campus beauty. So glad to hear Kissam is being razed... so sad I missed the Commons Experience!

I expect your financial aid section to get hit pretty hard with questions, as I touted the benefits of a school that recognizes the toxicity of student-endebtedness with loan forgiveness to qualifying graduates. That was pretty cool, wedged in between two schools that together got less than a year at Vandy. I certainly benefitted greatly from the Breckenridge Memorial Scholarship!!!

PSS Also, you know that crazy perspectualization: that as you age behind the ears, people of a remembered-time-period appear more and more juvenile?! I almost lost my mind until I realized that there was an entire class of eighth-graders running rampant, amongst; my best piece of advice to these kiddos was: "Have a great time in high school; remember to enjoy these next few years experiencing as many unforgettable memories as timely possible."

The parents all wince, understandingly.

I know you noticed, but nobody cares about your site right now. If you want to grab readership, you'll have to do it by producing good content, you can't just sell the idea of it and expect it to motivate redditors to keep coming back.

Dear Customer Service: My SATA PRO 2XSA has now chewn through four drives. By 'chewn', I mean it eventually burns out their motors... it seems the power brick is emitting a screeaching sound that is too high for my ears to hear [which carries over in to the drives' motors]. But the younger tech doing work for me hears it, and that is likely why when one drive fails, the other does, too (they;re in a Raid Mirror, for redundancy, but that doesn;t work if BOTH drives are fed bad power). I need to get the power adapter and/or unit replaced...

4... 3... 2... 1...

Needless to say, the response I got back was essentially "Go fuck yourself, did you check the power ratings of the drives LOL?!?! ...'hearing things' good one..." (... and yes, both drives I was utilizing were <2A Max, ea. (actually, 0.72A, so... ya'll go fuck yourselves.)

In 2009 I was a student doctor in a small Fort Worth hospital, one year fresh out of undergrad. When I graduated, I took the additional-schooling route because it was what you were "supposed to do", according to pre-med folklore. That, and I need something that paid well enough to cover both big city living expenses and future student debt repayment. I also took it because I wasn't originally planning on becoming a physician, but deep down inside I felt I needed to "prove myself" to a big ego. When you've been a competitive person your whole life, nothing will stop you from trying to stay ahead of the pack.

The long and the short of my one-year stint in Fort Worth as an osteopath before I "checked out" is this: After the first 6 months on the books, I was in a hard place both mentally and emotionally. I had a tough curriculum that demanded (forced?) long, long hours, lots of examination, tough patients and an extremely bossy dean. I wasn't happy living in Fort Worth, a city that I'd rarely visited, but tried residing in, and I was far away from the few friendships I maintained through college. And, to make matters worse there was always this feeling that what I was doing didn't have a meaningful reward - I was helping Big Pharma spend lots of money to help their executive teams report positive dividends... you'd think that by the time most middle-aged men reach the trading floor they know what they are doing ethically by that point, but I'll tell ya, it's not all that accurate.

The moment of clarity, as I like to call it, hit me on New Year's Eve of 2009, while Twin and I were peacefully driving in an ex-girlfriend's Camry, more than 1,000 km from Fort Wort and the career and relationships I didn't want to return to. Since it was the holiday break, my phone was off, my laptop had been left closed (bold move on the rooftops, R) and I was enjoying some much needed time with family. My dean was in a perpetual "crisis" and found a way to remind us on holiday about our continued-commitment to the profession (this, at the longest term medical school in the country). For the record, the bantering was a minor thing that easily would be signed off on the following week when my god-awful Preceptorship was verified in the dingy academic thing called 'office'. My stomach did flip flops throughout recollections that demanded I find a way to study anatomy* further before I returned to the school the following week.

That reminder was a symbol of everything I hated about my school, the city where I was living; the life that I was creating. I knew then and there that the end of my schooling with this department had to come very soon.

Although I knew then I needed to leave, the process of knowing what steps to take took almost another 3 months. i quickly realized that trying to find another career after working toward this goal was going to be a very tough thing to do, especially because I had no idea what I wanted to be doing! So, as a commitment to self-exploration, I decided to leave not only my job, but also the city of Fort Worth. I took a planned "early retirement" at the age of 23.

I was off the clock for four months. I moved into my twin's house, threw lavish parties and tried to otherwise-minimize the cost of living while I graciously received love, moral support and a bit of financial assistance from ma and pa.

The process that followed my "checking out" was personally very rewarding. I challenged everythign I knew about what I thought I wanted to be doing with my career to try and figure out what would actually make me happy. It's trial and error, and thankfully, I was able to pursue other things. It's about having a little faith in yourself so that you can really figure out why you should offer so much of yourself - your time, your effort, your mental facilities - up to a hospital.

No, you should not. End of story. Do not get an MBA. Do not get a PhD. Do not go to law school. Do not pass Go. You will be wasting your money because there are already too many people with too many credentials. I wonder her opinion on protected practices, particularly in alternative bodywork. Might a two year program be worth some time?

Adblockers are fairly popular plugins these days... little do most people know, these ad-ons typically only block the display of advertisements; this still allows analytical data to be gathered by data-mining organizations, leaving you vulnerable to tracking.

Mac OS Step 1) Download and expand this modfiied hosts file to your desktop (not a trojan / virus, guaranteed... the file is a simple .TXT which you can examine at your leisure).

Mac OS Step 2)Launch Terminal.app, located here: Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > Terminal.app

Mac OS Step 3) Back Up your original hosts file with this command:

cp /etc/hosts ~/desktop/hosts_old.txt

Mac OS Step 4) Assuming you followed step 1, enter this command:

sudo cp ~/desktop/hosts.txt /etc/hosts

When requested, enter your user account password (the one you log in with)

Enjoy an entirely new internet experience! Should you run in to any problems, use this command to restore the original host file (saved on to desktop in step 3 above):

sudo cp ~/desktop/hosts_old.txt /etc/hosts

Also, just FYI: this is hulu-compliant, but some media websites won't load without first playing an advertisement. Revert using the restore procedure above if you can't load something correctly.

The San Francisco Police Department issued a statement in response to the case cautioning that the officers accused of misconduct should be considered innocent until proven guilty.
